English 1, 2, Honors: Capital Respect

Today, students copied the OGT skills notes for 1/31:

  • Capitalize proper nouns and proper adjectives: Joseph, Principal Garrison, Whitehall, Ohio
  • Capitalize the names of periods and events in history: The Middle Ages, Modern Era, Holocaust
  • Capitalize the names of planets, continents and countries: Jupiter, Asia, Germany
  • Capitalize the names of religions, races, languages and nationalities: Christianity, Hispanic, French, Africa-American

Then, students responded to journal 36:

“I’m not concerned with your liking me or disliking me.  All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” –Jackie Robinson; Write two questions on your own for this quote.  Answer them in extended response format.

Then, students read independently for the rest of class; if you were absent (or in PASS/ISS, be sure to read for at least 20 minutes and then submit a half-page summary of your reading for credit.
