English 2: Commas and work

Today, students responded to OGT 35:

What is the best way to edit the sentence below?

She is despite her best efforts still failing the course.

  • A. She is, despite her best efforts still failing, the course.
  • B. She is despite her best efforts, still failing the course.
  • C. She is despite her best efforts still, failing the course.
  • D. She is, despite her best efforts, still failing the course.

Then, students worked on their individual jobs within their groups.  Students were given time to work on the assignment that is due tomorrow at 4pm.  Students should see the The Lord of the Flies Project Sheet for guidance on their jobs which they signed up for earlier in the quarter.
