Today, students went to the library to check out and/or renew books for independent reading time; if you were absent or out of class for any reason, be sure to do this on your own time before our next reading day (Wednesday).
Then, students took the skills notes for 1.10.11:
Writing Process: Every writing piece should go through the four stages of writing: Brainstorming, Drafting, Revising, Publish.
- Brainstorming: Draw a map, create a list or table—get ideas together
- Drafting: without worrying about correctness, write a draft of the response
- Revise: correct punctuation, spelling, sentence and paragraph structure
- Publish: Rewrite your final copy and submit
Then, students responded to journal 31:
“Where there is no vision, there is no hope.” –George Washington Carver; Write two questions on your own for this quote. Answer them in extended response format.
Finally, students read independently for the rest of class; if you were absent, be sure to read independenlty for 20 minutes and submit a half-page summary of your reading for credit.
