Honors 2: Topic and Thesis

Today, we discussed the research paper.  We took notes over the requirements and deadly errors; then, we began crafting a thesis statement.  Your thesis statement must be approved and, if you change it, you must have the change approved, too.


  • 2 1/2 to 4 pages plus works cited page
  • Times New Roman; size 12 font
  • Follow MLA format rules; see your notes (from Tuesday/Wednesday)
  • Three or more sources are needed; at least one source must be from EBSCO (we’l learn that on 11/18

Deadly errors for this assignment:

  • Comma splices
  • Homophone/word misuse: you’re/your; to/two/too; they’re/their/there; it’s/its; hear/here; who’s/whose; a lot
  • Punctuation mark misuse: period, exclamation mark, question mark, colon, semi-colon
  • Incomplete sentences
  • Pronoun/Antecedent agreement error
